Skilled at Hand Drafting

Will hand drafting become a novelty or is it still an essential skill set for architects?
Although Auto CAD, Revit, and 3d software is used for 90% percent of our industry, Hand drafting still remains as an important skill set for architects. As technology continues to exponentially grow our profession becomes further removed from reality. There becomes a lack of connection between the architect and the building. I believe that the intimacy of hand drafting a project is irreplaceable, the process itself allows the architect full control and awareness of all aspects of the design. I am not suggesting that architecture firms revert to hand drafting projects but rather incorporate it into the design process in a logical manner. How that is to happen? is open for debate.
